The markings on the pentagram is the word âtetragrammatonâ, being broken into five pieces to match the five points of the star in the pentagram.
That in turn is a representation of the Greek ÏεÏÏαγÏάμμαÏον in Latin characters.
Literally, it means âconsisting of four lettersâ, and is a substitute for the four-letter Biblical name of the God of Israel.
Used as a substitute for the name, it came to be regarded as a word of magical power itself, and thus, shows up in some medieval grimoires
among the pentacles and pentagrams supposed to be ritually used to summon and/or bind demons.
